A few years ago during our kitchen remodel I decided to invest in the time to hand make tiles for my kitchen backsplash. My intention was to create a unique element for the space while spending time with one of my dearest friends and renowned sculptor Corinne D. Peterson.
Fresh cut Ranunculus bouquets can last for an insanely long time. When picking yours, make sure the bunches are peppered with unopened buds and have strong, long stems. The baby buds will promise to yield 2-3 weeks of additional arranging pleasure
I use lots of Barneys bags and boxes in my artwork. Here's one I used to make a handmade book about a six-legged Dachshund for my friends Sonata and Jed.
Such an honor to share my latest series of artwork in the adorable neighborhood of Jefferson Park. This artwork will eventually make its way into a book titled 3am.
After a series of tragedies, I was compelled to tell a story of loss and grief. This abstract tale is told through two characters as they travel into the after-life to find each other. Based on a true story of two friends who reconnect after death. Life is never the same.
I was invited to collaborate with local design shoppe Zagone Studios. The wonderful artisans at Zagone create original hand-crafted masks and costumes for Halloween, and the film industry.
This new Martin series was inspired by Halloween and greatly to Franco Pacini’s idea of Martin dressed as the classic monsters. Had fun taking Martin and Orangedotstickbutt out of their normal routine and giving them costumes.
Proceeds from this series will benefit the For The Love of Chocolate Foundation at the Nobody Sleeps event September 29, 2018.
I’ve been slowly creating the second of nine textiles I designed years ago. Progress is slow but the results are exquisite. Each strip of textile is hand-dyed or painted and then woven into the the background until an image emerges. The final nine will be installed along with the Watchers Over the Childhood of Humanity.
I recently had a solo art show at a new gallery called One Eye Shut Gallery in Ukranian Village. Some photos of the setting up before the show. A few shots during.
Had a lovely time in Madison, WI this past summer helping my dear friend Sabrina decorate and organize her new art studio which was converted from an old garage. Corey was instrumental in converting the space with his magical man talents, like removing that giant dilapidated garage door, and putting up walls and windows.
Sabrina's stunning & thoughtful artwork can be experienced here. So many good things will be flowing from this space.
Congrats, Sab! <3
Large scale textile installation work in progress. Each strip of canvas hand painted and rust- dyed.
